Mark Smith knows his way around a machining challenge. So when Neumeier Engineering wanted to reduce cycle time and increase tool life, he and Patrick Clewis, with Western Tool & Supply, put their heads together.
Neumeier was testing carbide end mills in heat-treated 15-5 stainless. Patrick worked with Neumeier on optimized tool paths. And Mark worked with IMCO on tweaking the enDURO® M525’s cutting edges and corner geometries.
The enDURO® came back…with a vengeance. Slotting in 15-5 stainless, Neumeier got the results they wanted.
The results
- enDURO® – Tool life increased by a reliable 57%
- enDURO® – More even wear on corner radii and sides
- enDURO® – Significantly higher metal removal rates
